Epilepsy

Epilepsy is a serious neurological illness affecting 0.8 – 1% of the population. The disorder is chronic with the tendency for a seizure to be for life or duration of many years.

The disorder is characterised by repeating and different types of seizures including loss of consciousness and in the most severe form generalised muscle cramps known as Tonic-Conic (GTC) seizures.

When the seizure occurs, help and care are needed to avoid complications. Today no reliable alarm exists that can detect when persons with epilepsy (PWE) get a GTC seizure, and families with a PWE live in constant fear for the next seizure.
